Can you believe it’s the end of summer? I can’t. This whole year has been flying by. I’m sure a part of the reason is being back in school, always combating with time to finish important things. I just started my fall semester this week, so I’m prepared to see the remainder of the year complete just as quickly. Have anything planned for the holiday weekend? We’re going up to New Hampshire for some camping fun. S’mores galore!

Harrods Tea

A dear friend of mine recently traveled to England about a month ago and I requested some tea from Harrods. I love Harrods. I still remember so distinctly my visit into the great big store and all it’s fineness and galore. I had bought tea (Afternoon Tea – which is delicious), but I had only gotten the regular box. My friend picked up the tin set, so now I’ll be able to use these pretty canisters after the tea is gone.

Thinking in White

For some reason I’ve been on a severe, ‘I love everything white’ kick. White floors, white furniture, white bedding, etc. Too bad the current furnishings in my living room are the opposite of that (black and browns). I’ll have to fix up my accessories to lighten things up. I just love the crisp and cleanness of white.

Celebrity Feature: Dana Andrews

The first time I spotted Mr. Andrews was when I viewed State Fair. I had thought, oh, this guy looks like he’d be better in a non-musical film. I watched Laura not too long after that, and I sort of fell in love with him (that seems to happen to me a lot). I thought he was marvelous in State Fair, too, I just knew that he would shine so much more in a film more suited for his acting abilities. I did find out this piece of information about him though, which I find to be rather interesting, and awfully nice. You can view his full filmography, to see all the films he’s been in. I highly recommend Laura and The Best Years of our Lives.

Film Feature: The Birds

The Birds was one of my first Hitchcock films. I remember my 14 year old self thinking how awesome and positively gruesome these killer birds were (I think I was a little more morbid back then). From the start, I saw how Hitch used his humor in wit in slight ways. How could you not find this film amusing? This was also probably the first time I saw Rod Taylor as an actor, rather than just the voice of Pongo from 101 Dalmations. I’m pretty sure I fell in love with Taylor. He’s that sort of rugged dashing. Tippi Hedren was awfully amusing as Melanie Daniels, too.

On a side note, I had watched this film in one of my classes I took while studying in England. The professor had asked who had seen this film and out of about 30 kids, only 6 raised their hands, myself included. I felt positively astonished.
